Mengenal Regar, Sebuah Kasta Dalit di India

Di India terdapat kasta dalit bernama Regar.

Kasta ini disebut berada di Rajashtan, India dan berada dalam perlindungan pemerintah karena posisinya yang rentan.

Saat ini julah populasi kasta Regar hanya di bawah 1,5 juta jiwa.

The most of Raigers of India do not know about the past occupational history of their community. Whereas they were soldiers and farmers.  

Although some Raigers indulged into tanning business in late Muslim or British era in India. But initially, they were not tanning workers. Who were traditional tanning workers in Rajaputana is an absurd debate. But it is an imaginary and absurd thought that the word Raiger is a corrupt form of Rangaiya. Thus anyone who relates the word Raigar with tanning words like Rangaiya or Ragagar or Rangiya or Rangeeta  is totally, wrong.  Because the word Regar/Raiger is a corrupted form or derivative of the word Raghu as bellow: 

Raghu→ Ragh→ Rag→ Ragar→ Regar→ Rehgar → Raiger  or

Raghu→ Ragh→ Rag→ Raghar→ Reghar →  Regar → Raiger

And Rehgar is a transitory word and syllabus Reh, seen in this word is only a result of the conversion of the word Raghu into the word Regar/Raiger.  But an incorrect interpretation has been developed by Dr. Rajkumar that the Shoragar or saltpetere-makee, who is sometimes called Rehgar from reh or saline efflorescence. Whereas both are entirely different castes, originated from different origins and Shorgar is a new caste came into existence during Muslim era. Whereas the word Regar/ Raiger is an ancient and worldwide word representing various human communities. There are so many Regar/Raiger families those aboriginally, have been living in European countries for long ago, even before Christ. 

Ragh or Rag community was living in a suburb of present Tehran (Iran) before Alexandar, the Great. Raghas ruled North Afghanistan.  At present Ragh city is a district head quarter of Raghistan, a land of Raghas. Ragas of India were called Raghuvanshi Kshatriyas. 

Clans of Ragas or present Raigers are having only suffixes -iya or -wal(like Mauriya or Maurwal)  and well defined words like Agrwal gotras. That is, pre Raigers were eminent sociologists. 

Although  demand for  reservation benefits in other states of India is a constitutional right of Raigers. But for this gain it is not correct to illdefine the word Raiger. Unfortunately, a wrong definition of the word Regar/Raiger has been submitted through a representation demanding reservation for Raigers in whole India.  

To put wrong definition of the word Regar/ Raiger might be profitable in case of the reservation benefits. But it is a social abuse to Raiger community.

सिंहहोवैरि पराभवम् च कुरूते तिष्ठन् रेगहरे I

दुर्गंधों नृपति प्रभृतम् कटकम् जायेत्  मगरे II

Here, रेगहरे (Reghare) means Raiger who fought against Ala-Uddin Khilaji, a Muslim ruler of Delhi in India.

       …… ARRIAN(date of his death 182 A.D.) informs us that ALEXANDER, in his pursuit  of DARIUS, came to the city of Rhages(रहगये = रेगये = रैगर → its ruins lie some twenty miles east of Tehran, the modern capital of Persia), whence he passed through Caspian straits against the Parthians. …….. as far as the Caspian Gates (an ancient toponym identifying a ground-level pass that runs east and west through a southern spur of the Alburz Mountains in north central Iran), Rhagai (रहगये = रेगये = रैगर→ Colony of Ragas near, where Tehran is at present), and the Tapyroi, which formerly belonged to Media (A region of north-western Iran, best known for having been the political and cultural base of the Medes, and other ancient Iranian people). ……

Due to afraid of Bhagwan Parshuram( An Incarnation  of God Vishnu) Ranghars(रंगड़)  became reghai(रेगये = रैगर). 

6. Encyclopaedia of Untouchables Ancient, Medieval and Modern by Dr. Rajkumar published in 2008 A.D. 

Dr. Rajkumar could not define the word Raiger anywhere in his book. But at the pp.380 he has illdefined the word Rehgar as: This is true also of the Shoragar or saltpetere-makee, who is sometimes called Rehgar from reh or saline efflorescence. But the two terms applied to the same class of men, who indeed, now that the making of salt is prohibited in most parts of the….
